hebron glass beads
Description
Hebron glass beads date back as far as the 12th century. They were made in Hebron (near Jeresulem) from sand and Dead Sea salt.
Unlike beads from European artisans, these beads were made primarily for currency and weren't particularly attractive.
Value was assigned by weight and size. The larger and heavier, the greater the value and social status of the owner.
